Rev. Tommy Toombs
Pastor

Tommy was born in Paragould, Arkansas. In 1995, he received his BA in history from Arkansas State University and, in 1997, his Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary. He farmed until he was 35 when he received the call to the ministry. The churches he has pastored include Union Grove United Methodist Church, Weiner-Fisher United Methodist Church, Cornerstone United Methodist Church and FUMC, Heber Springs. He became an Ordained Deacon in 1997 and an Ordained Elder in 1999. Also in 1999, he received the Denman Evangelism Award. He is married to Charlise and they have one son, Tommy Jr.

Charle Cayton
Minister of Visitation

Charle grew up on a farm close to Colby, Kansas. After spending seven years as an insurance agent, he, his wife Twila and their two grade-school children moved to Manhattan, KS. He graduated from Manhattan Christian College in 1969. He spent 35 years pastoring Christian Churches. In 2001 after retiring, he and Twila joined the HS FUMC and in 2003 they were invited to become the Ministers of Visitation for FUMC. They make hospital calls, visit shut-ins and those in our three nursing homes. They are involved in the Friendly Sunday School Class where Charle takes a turn teaching. The Caytons have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

David Jones

David moved to Heber Springs in 2003 after accepting the position of Church Administrator. A lifelong Arkansan, he grew up in Hope and lived in Little Rock and Searcy. David graduated from North Little Rock High School and Hendrix College. His business experience includes several positions in the insurance industry and management experience with Yarnell Ice Cream Company in Searcy. “I am blessed to be doing many of the things I did in the business world, but now to be doing this work for the Lord’s church.” David is also a United Methodist Lay Speaker, preaches at our Evening Worship, and a Trustee at Mount Eagle Christian Retreat Center. His wife, Dianne, is a former school teacher who is active in women’s and mentoring ministries. They have two grown sons.

Kasey Goddard

Kassandra (Kasey) Goddard has lived in Heber Springs most of her life. Her father moved their family to Arkansas from Tucson, AZ in 1979. Kasey has been singing for as long as she can remember. She was raised in a loving Christian home, and one of her fondest memories growing up was the car rides with her 4 brothers and sisters singing hymns. She attended Heber Springs School from Kindergarten-12th grade. She was voted "most talented" by her Senior class of 1994. Kasey is an active volunteer at FUMC and also enjoys volunteering at Heber Springs Schools. Kasey, along with her husband, John, joined FUMC in 2007. They have three children: Logan, Lauren and Zack.

Donna Redding
Director of Children's Ministries

Donna was born in Heber Springs and attended Heber schools through the 11th grade. She spent her senior year working as a Page in the U.S. House of Representatives and graduated from Capitol Page School in Washington, D.C. She then returned to Arkansas and attended UCA. Donna and her family just recently moved back to Heber Springs after living in North Little Rock and Conway. With over 20 years' experience working in children's ministry, Donna has served as a Nursery Director and Children's Ministry Director. She has also been involved in directing and coordinating VBS, leading preschool worship, teaching Sunday school, leading Small Groups and training volunteers. Donna is married to David and they have two kids, Dana and Devin.

Greg Luetschwager
Custodian

Greg is originally from Wisconsin and has lived in Heber Springs since 1980. After finishing high school, he went into the Army. He lived in Texas, California, and Nevada and then came back to Arkansas to care for his parents who have since gone to be with the Lord. He has been at FUMC since April, 2002 as the custodian. During this time, he has also been a VBS helper, an actor in plays, bus driver, Sunday School helper, and his favorite, the Wednesday Night cook/helper. Come join us in the kitchen and be blessed! He is married to his wonderful wife, Beverly.

Carolyn Strickland
Office Manager/Director of Traditional Music

Carolyn was born in Kodaikanal, India to missionary parents and lived in Ohio, Arizona, Texas, and Oklahoma before moving to Arkansas in 1979. Heber Springs has been her home since 1998. She attended Hendrix College in Conway and has a professional background in accounting and church office work. She has been blessed to work for United Methodist Churches for over 18 years! She is involved in Community Theater, liturgical dance, handbells, and Chancel Choir which she has been privileged to direct since 2007.

Mike Wagner

Mike was born and raised in New York City and graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Forestry in 1989. An aerial photography position in the timber and pulp & paper industry brought him to Arkansas. He was an avid motorcyclist and had ridden through 43 of our 50 states. In 1991 he suffered a near-fatal motorcycle accident which left him a T-12 paraplegic. He graduated from UALR in 1997 with a Finance degree and worked for GMAC in Little Rock for three years. In 2001, he moved to Heber Springs and built his own home. He enjoys scuba diving, hand-cycling and tinkering on his many home projects.

James Carr

James is a native of Greenwood, MS. He graduated from Memphis State University and worked in computer software design and maintenance for several companies. He retired from International Paper in 2006. He has been a Methodist all of his life and has served in many different ministries over the years. However, it was not until he moved to First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs, AR that he found a place for his talents. He volunteered to help in the AV Ministry and loved serving as the computer/overhead volunteer. Several years later, after retiring, the position of AV Coordinator became available. After much prayer and thought, he applied for that position and is very happy to be a part of this Ministry. He is a former board member of Cleburne County Cares. James and his wife, Lois, have a daughter, Jamie Carr.

Barbara Little
Pianist

Barbara was born and raised in Fouke, Arkansas (just south of Texarkana). She had two years of junior college in Texarkana, and then received her Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin College in Ohio. She worked on her Master’s degree at the U of A, Fayetteville. In 1960, she married James Robert Little, a civil engineer and native of Heber Springs. They raised 3 children; Lee Ann, Aaron (deceased) and Adam. Barbara was widowed in 2005. She has 3 grandchildren. She became a Methodist, not by birth but by choice.

Jo Wells
Organist

Jo was born and raised in Little Rock, where as a member of First Lutheran Church, she began playing the pipe organ and singing in the chancel choir at age 14. She has been Involved in the sacred music ministry ever since in several capacities. Recently, she retired as Music Director of FUMC, but she continues to direct the Holy Tollers handbell choir and serve as church organist. She holds a BA and MSE from UCA. She has worked as a secretary and has taught sewing and both high school and college Spanish. Currently, she is the volunteer administrator of the Christian Health Center, a free clinic for the medically uninsured.

Alesha Presley

Alesha was born and raised in Heber Springs and has been active at FUMC all her life. She graduated from Heber Springs High in 1998 and the University of Arkansas in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts and a double major in Communication and Psychology. She married her high school sweetheart, Jason, in 2002 and they had their first child, Lynnlee in 2007. Emmary, her second child, was born in 2011. She graduated from Harding University in 2006 with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. As a Licensed Associate Counselor, she loves working with teenagers! She feels truly blessed to be able to work with the youth at FUMC and has oodles of fun doing it.
“Being a teenager today is hard work. The secular world tries to desensitize them through the media with messages that are not becoming. I want our youth to trust in Jesus’ unfailing love for them and be unashamed to follow Him; displaying God’s love, grace and mercy to others. My prayer is that our teenagers will go off to college or into the work force with a strong personal relationship with Christ, seeking daily to be His disciple and servant".

Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Beth retired from BellSouth Corporation, with 26 years’ service, in 1994, and moved to Heber Springs in 1995. She has a BBA in Office Management from the University of Memphis. Her hobbies include antiques, needlepoint, and stained glass. She is married to Joe and has one daughter, Kristin, who lives in Florida.

Lynne Brown

Lynne was born and raised in Miami Florida. She received her B.S. in Social Work from Florida State University (1977) and her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law (1983). She practiced law in South Carolina in the areas of corporate and real estate law until moving to Louisiana in 1986 where she concentrated her practice in business and family law. Lynne and her family moved to Arkansas in 2006. She teaches Sunday School and is involved in several ministries in the church.

Born in 1982, Tommy, Jr. graduated from Weiner High School in 2001. After moving to Heber Springs, he attended ASU briefly and began working at the church in January, 2011. Tommy’s interests include customizing a 1984 GMC truck (which belonged to his grandfather), weight-lifting, dancing, video games and church. He also likes fishing, duck hunting, and aggravating their cat, Tessie. Tommy, Jr. is single.
